 Get involved!

Are you interested in being more involved at Laurier and helping other students at the same time? This is your opportunity to co-ordinate student support and initiate projects that directly affect and benefit other students. This is great volunteer experience!!

The Accessible Learning Centre is now recruiting volunteers for its Peer Helper Program. The positions will begin in September 2010.  Training is provided.

What did our student co-ordinators do this year?
* Organized ALC Awareness Week in September and January
* Recruited note-takers
* Presented workshops on study skills
* Trained tutors and volunteer
* Supported students with disabilities
* Participated in various training opportunities

We are recruiting for positions in these exciting areas:
1) Assistive Technology
2) Learning Strategies
3) Projects and Student Support
4) Note-taking Program
5) Tutoring Program

What is the application process?
1. Complete the application form and attach your resume. The application form is online at: http://www.mylaurier.ca/accessible/forms/vol.htm
2. Return your application form to the ALC in Rm. 1C9 or 1C11 (Arts Building) by: Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 12noon.
3. Selected applicants will be invited by email to sign up for an interview.
4. Interviews will be scheduled for March 8-11. 
5. Successful candidates will notified by email beginning the week of March 15th.  
6. Mandatory training for successful applicants on the Wednesday OR Thursday of O-Week, 2010.
