| CENTRAL ACADEMIC ADVISING The Central Academic Advisor can help you: identify resources and services to enhance your academic performance; understand academic rules and regulations (calendar interpretation, verification of degree requirements); and choose an undergraduate program in preparation for graduate school and/or a specific career, change degree programs, and make course selections. |
| CHAPLAINS' OFFICE Laurier’s chaplains offer religiously based support services, in accord with their individual denominational affiliations. |
| DEAN OF STUDENTS This office can help students find their way among Laurier’s various academic and support services. It oversees student conduct and student (campus) life in general. (Administratively, Counselling Services is one of several Student Services that report to the Dean of Students.) |
| GRAD. STUDENT ASSOCIATION (GSA) This is one of the two student associations that help to oversee student services like ours. (The Grad Pub is also a neighbour, just below us - welcome to our building!) |
| HEALTH SERVICES Contact this on-campus medical service for specific questions about medication, psychiatric referral, and general health issues. (Here at Counselling Services, we approach emotional issues from a nonpsychiatric perspective. But if you are prescribed medication for depression or anxiety, you will likely be encouraged to complement that medical approach with professional counselling as well.) |
| STUDENT HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE This student drop-in centre just downstairs from our office is geared to self-help resources of all kinds. It is coordinated by the Health Educator and staffed mostly by student volunteers. |
| STUDENT NUTRITION ACTION COMMITTEE (SNAC) This program sponsors nutritional counselling with consulting dieticians on campus, plus educational workshops on eating issues, body image, fitness and healthy lifestyle. |
| THE WRITING CENTRE For direct help with your writing skills, contact Laurier’s Writing Centre. (If you have the writing skills but are plagued by a writing "block," we may be able to help at Counselling.) |
| WLU LIBRARY Provides resources and services to help you with your research, teaching and learning (x3222). |
| WLU STUDENTS' UNION (WLUSU) This is the undergraduate association supporting our student services - and providing a variety of student-run student services as well (Peer Help Line, Tutorial Services, and many more)! |
